Valkyrie vs. battalion Friday, November 02, 2012 5:35 AM (permalink)
Alright, I'm deciding between
Valkyrie CZ-17 and the Battalion 101 P170EM
Can someone tell me the pros and cons of each, and why i'd get one over the other?

My planned configuration for each would be
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3840QM Mobile Processor (4x 2.8GHz/8MB L3 Cache)
RAM: 16GB [8GB x 2] 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM [Laptop Memory]
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 Video w/ NVIDIA Optimus
Primary drive: 180 GB Intel 520 SSD Single Drive (Read: 550MB/s ; Write: 520MB/s)
Secondary drive: 750 GB 7200rpm Serial-ATA Super Slim Laptop Hard Drive
optical Drive: 6X Blu-Ray-R/8x Dual Format DVD±R/±RW + 24x CD-R/RW Combo Drive
but using these exact same configurations, Valkyrie came out cheaper. I know valkyrie is cheaper because it's issued by ibuypower, but would there be any other reasons why I would choose battalion over valkyrie? Also, any tips on tweaks i could make on this configuration would be greatly appreciated.

the batallion laptops are slightly thinner, and a bit more solid, but cost more for the same performance

the p170EM will fit into 17 inch laptop bags much more easily, the valkyrie fits better in 18 inch models

The only real performance benefit of the Battalion is that it has the option of SLI 680Ms. Other than that, I'd say the Valkyrie has it beat.

okay, i think I'll be planning to get the battalion because i prefer slimmer models. What aesthetics differences are there (if any)? the feel of the keyboard, display glossy or matte, ventilation differences?

most of the battalion laptops have glossy screens, whereas the valkyire's is matte

typing feel on all of the models is about the same, middle of the road, average for a laptop

neither of the models are particularly quiet under full load, but at the same time, ventilation is good
